its interesting that i beat some (a lot in fact) of the blog on a higher rank (higher ’strength’) than me in term of technorati, alexa, etc2..

and when i checked for blogs that are more global + famous (and rank less than 100 in technorati), the results for this blog are no good at all..

i think this is just for SEO, (provided by SEOmoz, well duh..).. some blog have extreme strength on their design (lots of people come and go to check on the design and get inspired) but some other also have super strength on their content (articles, bla3 which will have people who like to debate the topic on their blog to provide a BACKLINK)..

some blog owners just like to exchange link and does not even care to visit the guy he linked..

people with great design might have much2 larger number of unique visits everyday but people don’t tend to provide backlink to them. this shows that the system aren’t very efficient..

i dont think this system is accurate.. (performed by database system, what to expect)..

@ikram_zidane - we don’t have much choice in terms comparing. For me, google pagerank, technorati and alexa ranking alone is not enough. Thats the reason why I am using Page Strength as measurement tool. Yes, this tool is for seo purpose in fact, thats every blogger purpose too right? To rank well in search engine, get more visitors.

let’s take happycog for example… their content are nothing for us malaysians (their news are all about their event which none of us malaysians would attend), but still they are generating a very significant number of visits by our country alone…

i myself also tend to revisit a greatly designed site for inspiration (even if its in another language, for example http://www.sturzbach.de/ - do you really think i would understand what are they saying ? No right ? so, why do i keep coming back to their site ?

@ikram - as I said, this tool is for seo to measure how strong your site is for the search engine. Lots of traffic or good design won’t ensure that you will get good rating because lots of factor determine, like age of domain, whether your site listed in dmoz, or get a backlink from .edu or .gov domain. I think we already have a competition to see which blog have a good design and this tool try to look at it on different way. We use this tool a lot in directory industries and I just try to use this tool on blog.

Why the better looking ones are always at the bottom of the popular blogs list? Because the usability and its content counts more than the design itself.

Yes, i found it is not accurate.This tool had been talked a long ago in DP forum and it comes so negatively comments about it.

that’s good for you.. but i dont think it got nothing to do with design… there are differences between interface and art…. and against, that’s just you.. i’ve made lots of money by a well designed site than a ugly one (the ugly one doesn’t even got me a single cent i tell ya), even when the site that is well designed wasn’t intended for any kind of money making (didn’t even have to put any ads, etc2…).

That applies anywhere including here at alang’s blog and it proves the point that majority of people DO NOT visit a website just to look at the design like yourself. Read http://www.useit.com/ to understand my point.

For you to say the following sites are visited by many Malaysian simply because of their design and NOTHING else is misleading. I don’t know where you got the info but I can prove you are wrong because the sites are NOT popular among Malaysian.

The site is more popular among Indonesian and Philipino surfers.

Just because you alone visit a site because you are interested in the design does not mean the majority of Malaysian visit a site for the same reason.
